1. Who We Are
Prediction Jar ("the platform", "we", "us") is operated by Oleksandra Lysenko, an individual based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Email: [email protected] Until a formal legal entity is established, the platform is operated as an individual project. These terms are legally binding regardless.
2. What Prediction Jar Is
Prediction Jar is a community platform where users record predictions about the future of technology, science, and society — and revisit them when the predicted time horizon arrives. It is not a betting platform. No real money or financial instruments are involved. Nothing on this platform constitutes financial, legal, medical, or any other professional advice.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Prediction Jar. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 16. If we become aware of such an account, we will delete it.
4. Your Account
You are responsible for: - Maintaining the security of your account and password - All activity that occurs under your account - Providing accurate information when registering One person, one account. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate community features such as supports or votes is prohibited and will result in account termination.
5. Content You Post
You own the predictions, comments, and other content you post on Prediction Jar. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, store, and distribute your content as part of operating the platform. This licence ends when you delete your content or close your account. You are solely responsible for the content you post. You must not post: - Content that is illegal, defamatory, or harassing - Spam, advertising, or commercial solicitations - Content that infringes on the intellectual property of others - Deliberate misinformation presented as factual that could cause harm - Content that reveals private personal information about others - Content unrelated to technology, science, innovation, or the future We reserve the right to remove content that violates these rules, without notice.
6. Intellectual Property
The Prediction Jar name, logo, design, and platform features are the intellectual property of Oleksandra Lysenko. You may not copy, reproduce, or use them without explicit written permission from the owner.
7. Prohibited Uses
You may not: - Use automated scripts or bots to create accounts or interact with the platform - Attempt to scrape or extract data from the platform without authorisation - Use the platform to distribute malware or conduct phishing - Attempt to reverse engineer or compromise the security of the platform - Resell or commercialise access to the platform without our consent - Manipulate community features such as upvotes or resolution votes through coordinated inauthentic behaviour
8. Prediction Resolution
Prediction resolution is a community process. When a prediction's time horizon arrives, the author and community vote on what actually happened. We do not guarantee the accuracy, fairness, or completeness of any resolution. The platform is a tool for intellectual discussion — it carries no monetary stakes and is not a financial instrument.
9. Availability
We aim to keep Prediction Jar available at all times but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. We are not liable for any loss resulting from downtime.
10. Disclaimers
Prediction Jar is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Nothing on this platform constitutes financial, legal, medical, or any other professional advice. Predictions are opinions, not facts.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
You may close your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your content may be removed, although cached or archived copies may persist for a reasonable period.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email or in-app notification. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania and, where applicable, European Union law. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
15. Users in the United States
If you are located in the United States, the following additional terms apply: Arbitration: You agree that any dispute arising from your use of Prediction Jar will be resolved through binding individual arbitration rather than in court. You waive the right to participate in any class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against us. California users: If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal data we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. 16. DMCA — Copyright Policy
Prediction Jar respects intellectual property rights. If you believe that content on the platform infringes your copyright, please send a notice to [email protected] containing: - Your full name and contact information - A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed - The URL or location of the allegedly infringing content on our platform - A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorised - A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf - Your physical or electronic signature We will review all valid notices and remove infringing content promptly. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated. If you believe content was removed in error, you may send a counter-notice to the same address.
