ABOUT PREDICTION JAR
The place where bold ideas about the future don't disappear.
You've had the thought. "AI will replace this." "This technology will change everything." "I give this five years." And then the conversation moved on, and the thought was gone forever.
THE PROBLEM
Every day, people make fascinating predictions about technology, science, and society. They share them in podcasts, Twitter threads, YouTube comments, group chats. And then — nothing. The idea disappears. Nobody comes back to check. Nobody finds out who was right.
There is no place designed to capture predictions, let them age, and surface them when the time comes.
"What did people think would happen with AI five years ago? What about self-driving cars? What about remote work?" — the answers are scattered across the internet, unstructured, forgotten.
Prediction Jar exists to fix that. It is a structured archive of how people think about the future — built to be revisited.
HOW IT WORKS
Write a clear statement about something you believe will happen. Explain your reasoning. Set a time horizon — 1 year, 5 years, or Far future for ideas beyond a lifetime.
People who find your prediction support it if they agree it's plausible, debate it in the comments, and add evidence for or against.
When your time horizon approaches, Prediction Jar resurfaces it. You and the community find out: did it happen? Was anyone right?
Over time, your profile becomes a visible record of how you think about the future. A public intellectual CV — yours to share and be proud of.
WHO IT'S FOR
If you've ever found yourself saying "I think this will happen..." — this platform is for you.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
BUILT BY
I built Prediction Jar because I kept making predictions in conversations — and losing track of them. I wanted a place where ideas about the future could be stored, discussed, and actually checked. A place that takes future thinking seriously without turning it into gambling. This is that place. I hope you'll make your first prediction today.
A NOTE ON THE COMMUNITY
Prediction Jar works because of the people in it. The best predictions on this platform aren't the ones that turn out to be right — they're the ones with the most thoughtful reasoning behind them. We're building a community that values intellectual honesty, curiosity, and the courage to commit to an idea.
You will be wrong sometimes. That's the point. Being wrong publicly, examining why, and updating your thinking — that's what good forecasting looks like. We celebrate that here.
It takes 2 minutes. Pick something you believe will happen. Write down why. Set a time horizon. See what others think.
